Forever A Child, Forever Learning

Whenever I hear this song, a burst of energy flows through my veins and a smile never fails to light up my face. Images of a younger version of me dancing around my living room flicker before my eyes. Funny how a single song can bring back all kinds of feelings.

When I hear this song, I think of how I used to be when I was a child, full of optimism and silly worries. I idolized older women, and couldn’t wait to grow up! Think of “13 Going on 30”.

I’ve since realized though, that no matter how old you are, you still feel like a kid. When I was in elementary school, I felt like the age of 18 was so mature! Now, I’m 19 going on 20 and I don’t feel as cool or mature as I thought I would’ve been at this age.

No matter how old you are, you make mistakes and keep learning about life. There’s so much out there that I still haven’t experienced. Living on my own, having a job, starting a career, finding that special someone and starting a family.

I can’t help but feel excited with all of these different opportunities in front of me. My future is happening right now, and I have the chance to reach out and learn as much as I can.

I think it’s also important to note that we all have the power to make a change in our lives. As individuals, we really hold the key to our fate and our success. No matter what age you are, I firmly believe that it is always possible to make a change for the better.

Reader, what are some songs that always make you feel nostalgic? Have you ever made drastic lifestyle changes in pursuit of your own happiness?
